Some bugs and issues can only be found by playing the game for ages in a single play session, or by triggering lots of random situations. As a small studio we don't have the resources to hire a ton of people to do such tests, but luckily there is a good alternative: a fun method is to hack automated controls into the game and let the game test itself. We have used this method in both Swords & Soldiers and Awesomenauts and found a bunch of issues this way. Autotests are quite easy to build. The core idea is to let the game press random buttons automatically and leave it running for many hours. This is very simple to hack into the game. Here is another firmware release from Alexander , following the 4.60 FERROX CFW recently released ( still no backup manager support for that CFW so hold off on that one ) This time Alexander released a Dual Boot (DB) firmware for the firmware version 4.60. The Dual Boot (DB) firmware is an OFW firmware that has been patch to allow to once again get back on CFW from the 4.60 DB firmware. So if you want to reduce the risk of a ban when playing your disc games online. This is a method that many user's have choosen. The new update has been out for two days and there has been a surge in related forum and blog posts, multiple forms of spoofers for every flavour of CFW, and a few overly ambitious 4.60 CFWs. It seems that the ODE scene had come to a close (keep in mind it seemed the same way in February) and most all previous homebrews are not compatible with 4.60 based CFW (Ferrox4.60CFW). $ony went great lengths this time around to put a damper on the CFW/ODE scene, they even modified their terms and agreements with some pretty direct language [Dont install any firmware but this one!]-$ony. I suppose backup managers and homebrew will continue to work by spoofing your CFW or ODE to 4.60. You could even enjoy PSN for a brief period of time... since spoofing still lacks that special something $ony buried in their updat that may result in a mass banning.
