Former Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) Jake Obetsebi Lamptey is dead. He died in London, Sunday Morning. His death was confirmed to Kasapafmonline.com, by his aide, Brian Acheampong. It will be recalled that there were rumours in December last year that the former Minister of State in the John Agyekum Kufour administration had died. Barely twenty four hours after news went viral on social media and public chat platforms of the supposed passing away, Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey responded to the claims suggesting they were false. Speaking to Kasapa 102.3 FM then, the former Chief of Staff in the erstwhile Kufour Administration who later held several other portfolio, said the rumours were malicious and in bad taste. �Those are pure lies; i wonder why people would want to say such things. An all-female suspected armed robbery gang has been arrested in Kumasi by the police. They have been named as Agnes Darkoaa, also known as Maame Yaa and Last Killer, Ernestina Amponsah a.k.a. Akosua Frimpomaa, Mavis Addo a.k.a. Maame Konadu and Sally Sarpong a.k.a. Maame Serwaa. They were said to have attacked and robbed a taxi driver of his daily sales and cellphone. According to the police, the suspects at about 11:30pm on Wednesday hired the taxi driver, Kwadwo Obeng, who was in charge of a Toyota Echo Taxi cab with registration number AW 6005-12. They hired him from Asafo roundabout and asked him to take them to Afful Nkwanta in Kumasi. At Afful Nkwanta, the driver was re-directed to New Oxford International School behind Anwiam Clinic near the NDC Regional Office where Agnes Darkoaa who was in the front passenger seat pulled a knife. Two policemen who allegedly mounted an unauthorised police checkpoint and extorted money from drivers have been arrested. Although both of them are constables, one of them was seen in a police uniform which depicted him as an Inspector. Personnel of the Police Intelligence and Professional Standards (PIPS) Bureau arrested Constables Faati Jacob Tinob and Musah Azumah at Tabora Junction, near Lapaz in Accra, about 8 p.m. last Thursday.
